In 2013-2015, KEI went through a process of transformation into a direction and later – into a department. In 2016-2018, KEI worked as a department of the Kyiv School of Economics, consisting of several analysts and professors. In 2019, the field was singled out and renamed the KSE Institute.

In the same year, the direction of political and economic research was separated and renamed the KSE Institute, which in 2021 already had 13 research centers and 44 experts.

KSE Institute’s Team includes internationally recognized PhD specialists, programmers, former government officials and consultants. Since its inception, the Head of the KSE Institute is Natalia Shapoval, Vice President for Economic and Policy Research at the Kyiv School of Economics.
