Financial aid for graduate students and early career researchers in economics

The Review of Economic Studies (ReStud) in partnership with the Ukrainian Global University and the Kyiv School of Economics provides financial aid to students and early career researchers in the field of economics. The main goal of this program is to support international visits and research. This aid will be provided to applicants who are based in Ukraine or were based there before February 24, 2022.

Timeframe: By summer of 2023

 

Scholarships: up to 20

 

Who may apply: Any Ukraine-based graduate student of economics or early career researcher (Master student, PhD student, Postdoc, or faculty) to support their studies or research in economics. The grant could be used to support at least one of the following activities:

 

• Scholarships to conduct studies in master or PhD programs in Economics.

 

• Mobility grants for faculty and postdocs conducting research in Economics to fund international visits

 

• Research grants for faculty and postdocs to conduct research in Economics, to be used to hire research assistants in Ukraine.

 

• Research Assistant scholarship, for students based on Ukraine to work remotely for ReStud Board members.

 

In the case of funding international research visits, applicants must obtain such an invitation from a university they would like to visit at most three months after being awarded the scholarship. In the case of scholarships for master and PhD studies, applicants must obtain an admission letter at most nine months after being awarded the scholarship. All applicants must have a strong academic record, be proficient in English and have an active research project (master thesis, PhD thesis, master or PhD thesis proposal, academic paper, academic paper-in-progress). They should also provide some information on their current financial support or salary.

 

How the funds will be provided: Depending on the circumstances, grantees will receive reimbursement for travel, and receive a stipend up to 1,500 for a minimum of 3 months to cover their living expenses and research activities.

 

How to apply: Submit this form. Send a motivation letter, CV, transcripts of undergraduate and graduate studies, 2-page research proposal, a statement of financial need, and contact details of two potential letter recommenders to [email protected] and [email protected] titled RESTUD for Ukrainian researchers. Letters of recommendation will only be solicited for shortlisted candidates. Selected candidates will be invited for an online interview in English. Applications will be processed on a rolling basis.
