Globalization and Governance

Description

The course provides an overview of main issues that arise in the field of state and development with the progression of the globalisation. The paper starts with a critical assessment of the nature of globalisation and its impact on how we understand a concept of state. Throughout the course globalisation is seen as a phenomenon in the making, by acknowledging the main tendencies in its development, looking at the historic examples of similar processes, and analysing the controversies that arise with globalisation.

The objective of the paper is to equip students with fundamental analytical skills necessary for understanding the global transformations that are on-going in the political and economic sphere and their impact on policy making. The course is aimed at teaching students to ask difficult questions and use analytical instruments to construct critical answers.
