Open Lecture of Nobel Laureate in Economics

This event is organized mainly for young people, and the number of participants we are ready to except is limited. Therefore, we are encouraging you to register early (link).

Roger Bruce Myerson is an American economist and winner of the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel together with Leonid Hurwicz and Eric Maskin for “having laid the foundations of mechanism design theory».Currently he is the Glen A. Lloyd Distinguished Service Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago.

In February, 24th Roger Maerson, wrote in his blog article «On the question of decentralization in Ukraine» of the importance of political decentralization in Ukraine. His ideas were picked up by his colleague, professor at the University of Pittsburgh, Tymofiy Milovanov. Op-Ed by Roger Myerson and Tymofiy Mylovanov calling for debate on decentralization was signed by over 100 economists, political scientists, and lawyers in Ukraine, Russia, the US and Canada, and Europe.

Since than, participants of the initiative have written numerous articles, op-eds, arranged several events, gave tenth of lectures and interviews at different points of the world. Articles were published in  KyivPost (Myerson and Mylovanov), New York Times (Gehlbach, Myerson, and Mylovanov),  Washington Post Monkey Cage (Timothy Frye), TheWorldPost at Huffington Post (Myerson ), and numersous Ukrainian editions (Delo, Zerkalo Nedeli, Liga, etc)

Roger Myerson actively supports VoxUkraine, portal set up to discuss developments in Ukraine promoting research-based policy analysis and commentary by leading scholars, policymakers and businessmen (wotrth noting, the whole team are the graduated of EERC (currently — KSE)).

Format: The lecture will be opened by the President of Kyiv School of Economics, George Logush and  Tymofiy Mylovanov one of the leaders of Decentralization Initiative and VoxUkraine portal.
