The course is designed to introduce the students to some specifics of agricultural (and food) product and factor markets. The students will acquire practical tools for analyzing agri-food markets, e.g. market reviews, price transformations from farm gate to consumers’ table/ export markets, agricultural land pricing, sector competitiveness etc. Specifics of agri-food markets operation trigger numerous policy issues all over the world. The course examines the rational for public interventions in agri-food markets, the consequences and efficiency of price and income support policies. Students will learn practical tools of measuring and analyzing various agricultural support policies, as well as how the World Trade Organization attempts to regulate agricultural policy interventions.
