Since the first days of the full-scale invasion, the KSE Institute team has embarked on a mission aimed at bringing Ukraine closer to victory and restoring the country’s economy, fostering the development of a resilient and independent state.
KSE Institute is actively cooperating with the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, the Office of the President of Ukraine, and other relevant ministries to develop and implement projects and recovery plans from the local to the national level.
KSE Institute experts participated in developing and preparing materials for the International Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC) in 2022 in Lugano (URC-2022) and 2023 in London (URC-2023). In addition, KSE Institute experts are members of a group of leading international economists working on recommendations for Ukraine’s post-war recovery.
In May 2023, KSE launched the KSE Economy Recovery Lab, an open platform for anyone interested in contributing to Ukraine’s recovery to develop their ideas and help like-minded people.
As a follow-up to the URC-2023 in London, the Government of Ukraine, led by the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, has started working on the Ukraine Facility, a program supporting Ukraine’s economy from the European Union for 2024-2027. KSE Institute provides analytical and organizational support for the development of the Ukraine Facility. On the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine initiative, the Institute’s team consulted with businesses, NGOs, and associations on priority sectors of economic development and potential investment projects from business as part of the Ministry’s initiative “Launching a Permanent Dialogue between the State and Business.”
In November 2023, the CARMC, the Center for the Advancement of Recovery and Modernization of Ukraine, which is part of the I_CAN program, was presented in Kyiv.
The I_CAN National Program (Interinstitutional Capacity Nurturing), implemented by the World Bank Group, the Government of Ukraine, and the Kyiv School of Economics, will strengthen Ukraine’s capacity to manage projects funded by international financial institutions (IFIs). Over 3 years, 6000 specialists from all levels of government will be educated under the program.
In April 2024, the first of a series of I_CAN workshops entitled ‘Unlocking Potential: Enhancing Collaboration and Efficiency in IFI-Funded Projects’ took place. The speakers at the event were representatives of the World Bank, EBRD, IFC, the EU Delegation to Ukraine, the Ministry of Community Development, Territorial Development and Infrastructure, the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Finance, and the Kyiv School of Economics. I_CAN is funded by the World Bank’s Ukraine Relief, Recovery, Reconstruction and Reform Trust Fund (URTF).
