We invite you to the new spring courses at the Kyiv School of Economics campus from American experts!

 

Course “Artificial Intelligence: Overview & Business Applications” 

 

This course is for those who are interested in what is “under the hood” of AI applications, as well as practical challenges in managing the development and deployment of artificial intelligence.

 

Lecturer: Pini Ben-Or, Chief Science Officer at Aktana, an American startup that helps companies implement customer solutions through AI.

 

Pini Ben-Or has dedicated most of his career to improving business decisions with advanced analytics and machine learning, and he will soon share his knowledge in Kyiv.

 

The course is free of charge.

 

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 12:00-13:20 EEST (Kyiv time)

 

Extensive programming experience or skills are not required. However, basic programming experience (such as involved in using Excel) is a must. 

 

Course “Social Values and Public Choices, with Applications to Ukraine’s Reconstruction” 

 

This course is suitable for those who are interested in the effect of values on economic decisions at the individual, group, and national levels. Studying will be practical in nature. In the course, you will learn how alternative approaches to decision-making can influence management decisions regarding the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.

 

The survey will culminate with a discussion of social contract theory and the concept of the social covenant as a description of a nation’s values, character, and aspirations, as a source of guidance for decision-making at the national level. Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction will serve as a source of examples. 

 

Lecturer: Dr. Athena Small, an economist and data scientist at the University of Virginia, USA. She currently runs Refounding Democracy, a media channel focused on the revival of liberal democracy in the 21st century.

• Consider how values influence economic decisions at the individual, group, and national levels.

• Analyze alternative frameworks developed to both describe and justify individual and societal decisions.

• Explore various concepts of decision making, including utilitarianism, social cost-benefit analysis, statistical decision theory, and behavioral economics.

• Learn about social cost-benefit analysis, which is widely used to analyze public investments and programs.

 

• Understand how alternative approaches to decision-making can influence managerial decisions on the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.
