The course is aimed at forming an understanding of the basic concepts and approaches to the management of organizations in general and in the field of public administration in particular. It will cover the main areas of science management development: from its origins through Taylor’s scientific management and its critique of the supporters of theories of human relations – and to the current ideas of organizations as ecosystems. All these approaches will be united into several “models”, the main theses and conclusions of which the students will “try” to the organizations in which they work, critically rethinking their structure and functioning.
Particular attention is being given to discussions between adherents of various new approaches to public administration. The course introduces differences between New Public Management, Neo-Weberian State, New Public Governance, and a number of other related concepts.
