Political Regimes and Governance

Description

The course explores the problems of the correlation between political regimes and good governance. During the course, students will learn the basic of the theory of state making, the selectorate theory, state capacity and democratization theory.

The course is intended to form the idea of the relationship between the institution of the government, the bureaucracy, the democratic political process and good governance.

The course applies an interdisciplinary approach combining political sociology, history and political science to help students form a substantive understanding of the relationship between civil service and the functioning of a democratic regime and give impetus to the formation of practical skills of a public servant in an unconsolidated democracy.
