Do people always behave rationally when they make economic and financial decisions under uncertainty? What influences there choice? Is it possible to predict people’s behavior even if it is irrational?
Students of KSE Master’s programs studied these questions during their Behavioral Economics course. And the end of the courses they went out into the field to run experiments on real people to confirm their theories. Among other things they studied:
- Anchoring-and-adjustment biases in real estate pricing
- What motivates people to provide funds for charity?
- Existence of “cheating bias” — a degree at which individual allows himself to cheat in a situation without any supervision or control
- Rationality of peoples spending of sudden(unplanned) income
- Are we ready to sacrifice wealth for being better than others?
- Does choosing jobs based on income risk lead to higher job satisfaction in the long run?
On April 19 students will present their final projects. Join us to get some insights on behavioral economics.
Open Minds Club is a series of public events where KSE students present projects, developed within different courses. This year KSE students already presented their projects on Statistics and Econometrics.
