Discussion on the economic future of Ukraine

All events of Ukraine Economy Week

Description

Last summer, in June 2018, the expert community stated the uncertain nature of Ukraine. There were ideas that the state was on the verge of a deep economic crisis because of the need for payments to creditors. Today, the geopolitical factor and social electoral turbulence are taken on the focus.

Yuriy Gorodnichenko and Timothy Milovanov will share their vision of the current economic situation in Ukraine, as well as understanding the possible consequences of political decisions and scenarios for macroeconomic development of the state. Their experience is particularly interesting, as combining a deep understanding of the Ukrainian context with the best practices of the West.

Yuriy Gorodnichenko is a professor at the University of California at Berkeley (USA), editor of the Journal of Monetary Economics. For several years Yuriy Gorodnichenko has been recognized as #1 among young economists of the world on the rating of RePEc (in the years 2014-2017 – among those who made their first scientific publication 10 years ago and less, in 2018 – among those who made their first scientific publication 15 years ago and less). Yuriy Gorodnichenko is one of the strongest macroeconomists in the world. He advises the National Bank of Ukraine on monetary policy actively. Yuriy is also a co-founded of the analytical portal VoxUkraine and the chairman of the International Advisory Board of Kyiv School of Economics.

Timofiy Mylovanov is a professor at the University of Pittsburgh (USA), Deputy Chairman of the Board of the National Bank of Ukraine. In 2014, jointly with a group of Ukrainian and foreign economists exploring the public policy of Ukraine, he founded VoxUkraine. Forbes Ukraine included Timofiy Mylovanov in the ranking of the best Ukrainian economists for several years in a row. Thanks to his deep economic knowledge, belonging to the international academic community and awareness of the situation in Ukraine, Timofiy Mylovanov makes a significant contribution to the development of Kyiv School of Economics, holding the post of Honorary President of KSE.
