German-Ukrainian Summer School in Agricultural Economics

The German-Ukrainian Summer School in Agricultural Economics takes place at IAMO in Halle (Saale), Germany, from 3 to 17 March 2019. It is organized by IAMO in cooperation with the Institute of Agricultural and Food Sciences at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU) and supported by the Kyiv School of Economics (KSE), Ukraine, as a partner and funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

The summer school is aimed at Ukrainian doctoral candidates in the field of agricultural economics. The participants are supposed to learn to apply theoretical concepts of economics to evaluate agricultural policy measures. The students will learn how to justify and criticize agricultural policy interventions, the specifics of agricultural markets, the possibilities and limits of welfare analysis, and
governance problems.

During the social program the Ukrainian participants will get to know details and information about the German inner- and outer university research system in agricultural studies. They will also get practical insights in selected companies of the agricultural and food sector in Saxony-Anhalt.
The summer school takes place in the context of the pilot project for the sustainable internationalization of Ukrainian research structures in the context of the globalization of the Ukrainian food sector (UaFoodTrade). Courses are held in English.
