KSE International Student Conference

KSE International Student Conference

October 29, 2012

The Kyiv School of Economics invites all interested students to participate in the KSE International Student Conference on the topic “The Drivers of Ukraine’s Future Economic Prosperity” to be held on December 8, 2012 in Kyiv.

Many experts have recently argued that Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), agriculture and energy will drive the future economic success of Ukraine. Recently Ukraine joined the list of the World’s top grain exporters, following the U.S., EU, and Canada. Already now, customers are willing to pay Ukrainian programmers more than Asian specialists.

We are looking for essays and research papers from students that use statistics or econometrics and rely on economic models, theory or economic reasoning to analyze economic issues in these three sectors, including but not limited to:

  • ICT’s impact on entrepreneurship and job growth
  • Effects of the mobile boom on consumption / industry / services
  • Effectiveness of generation, transmission, supply and use of energy
  • Fuel Cell as an element of future energy security
  • Land ownership and investment in agriculture
  • Does the moratorium on land trade in Ukraine hurt rural residents?

Both essays and research papers should be based either upon original research done by a student or inspired by appropriately acknowledged work of other researchers with additional analysis conducted by the student.

All works should be written in English. Please read special requirements for essays and research papers.

KSE will provide a limited number of travel and accommodation grants to the selected presenters.
Students’ best essays and research papers will be awarded with monetary prizes: $200 – first prize, $100 – second prize.

All interested applicants should submit their essays and papers with a completed application form indicating the category (essay or research paper) by November 16, 2012 at [email protected].
