UKRAINE: IMPORT FROM AFRICAN COUNTRIES

As of 2021, Ukraine imports a variety of agri-foods, especially fish, tobacco, alcohol, palm oil, citruses, cheeses, grapes, bananas, coffee, and chocolate from different parts of the world. Notably, most of the imported products listed above are also Africa’s primary exports to Ukraine. In the same year, 39 out of 54 African countries exported 168 thousand tones of agricultural products worth $ 380 million to Ukraine. The top 5 exporters were Côte d’Ivoire (26% of Ukraine’s agri-foods imports), Malawi (19%), Egypt (15%), Ghana (11%) and South Africa (7%).

Ukraine is officially represented in 10 African countries and 10 more embassies are planned to be open. The map shows that the presence of a diplomatic mission positively influences trade.
