"The public official in the economic laboratory – some findings" with Benedikt Herrmann

We are pleased to announce our Policy Idea event with Benedikt Herrmann, First Secretary of the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine and a member of the Support Group for Ukraine in charge of decentralization.

The topic of Benedikt’s presentation is: “The public official in the economic laboratory – some findings”.

Previously, Benedikt Herrmann led the “Behavioral Economics Team” of the Joint Research Centre, a think tank within the European Commission. Among other items he analyzed the relationship between decentralization, economic growth and tax compliance. His interest in the Ukrainian decentralization reform brought him to Kyiv.

He graduated first in natural sciences and later earned a PhD in economics, which led him to work at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and the Centre for Decision Research and Experimental Economics at Nottingham University.

The Policy Idea Initiative is a series of events jointly organized by the PGA and the Kyiv School of Economics to foster an insightful dialogue and exchange of ideas among Civil Servants, Civil Society, and Business on various topics related to public administration reform in Ukraine.
