Open Lecture by Andrei Kirilenko “A Risk-Based Taxonomy of Crypto Assets”
Description
It all started with Bitcoin in 2008. By now, there are thousands of crypto assets. Many of them will not survive. By some estimates, around two-thirds of crypto assets offered through an initial coin offering failed to survive after 120 days.
Which assets will survive? What are crypto tokens and crypto coins? What fundamental economic problem do crypto assets solve that existing assets or fiat currencies do not? What are the regulators up to?
Professor Andrei Kirilenko, who is the founding director of the Fintech Centre at Imperial College London plans to cover these and other questions in his talk at 18:00 on Friday, 14th of December. Andrei was previously a professor of finance at MIT Sloan and before that the chief economist of the U.S. financial regulator of derivatives markets after the global financial crisis.
