Open Lecture - Change management vs project management: Project manager's dilemma

Description

Project lifecycle and change lifecycle: how do they correlate? There’s a lot written on product and project lifecycles, comparisons and how they differ. What about change management? Look at your project wider – you will see a bigger real change that is subject to implementation in your project. For a project to succeed it is not enough to deliver it in scope, time and budget. Moreover, these are not primary constraints anymore.

Change management is an integral part of project management activities that cannot be ignored. PMI talent triangle for project managers defines the new mindset to projects as a part of a bigger system, not just a collection of documents, plans, figures and human resources. Any project is a means for delivering organizational and personal changes to every stakeholder. The role of a project manager is bigger than you might think, the project manager bears responsibility for the lives of people she’s making the project for and with.

Where is the balance between real project constraints and its parameters?

The lecture will provide you with the arguments and benefits for making change management actions part of your project scope, give an insight for defining real project goals, a checklist for a successful change management.
