Center of Public Finance and Governance was launched at the Kyiv School of Economics

The Center for Public Finance and Public Policy Analysis will provide systematic, professional and non-biased expertise in two areas:

  • Public finance research: budget process, budget planning, fiscal policy impact on budget, debt policy, liquidity management, required institutional, legislative and organizational changes for a better public finance management
  • Public administration research: issues that directly affect budgetary efficiency, institutional, legislative and organizational changes which are needed to make public management more effective.

The center will be headed by Darina Marchak, a KSE graduate with extensive experience in public administration. In recent years, Darina has served as an Advisor to the CMU Minister for Public Administration, an expert on the EU project Support to Integrated Public Administration Reform in Ukraine (EU4PAR), and the Operational Director of the State Enterprise “Prozorro.Sales”. In total, the center team has five experts in public finance.

Darina Marchak: “Public finance is an area that affects every citizen and directly affects the quality of life, even if most citizens do not yet understand it. That is why an unbiased analysis of the situation in public finances, attention to problematic issues, and the formation of a correct discourse on issues is crucial for the development of Ukraine. The mission of the Center is regular, deep, and high-quality analytics in the areas of public finance. ”

The Center was created by Kyiv School of Economics with the support of the Embassy of Sweden.
