Dita Charanzova, member of the EU Parliament gave public lecture at KSE

On Nov.17 Kyiv School of Economics was honored to host an open lecture of Member of the European Parliament Dita Charanzova. She spoke about successful experience of her native country, Czech Republic, with the European Union accession. The Czech Republic became EU member in 2004 and is currently preparing to join the Eurozone.

The Association Agreement is the guide for the country supporting its intentions for transformation and reforms, according to Ms. Charanzova. Political will of the leadership of the country for changes is crucial in this regard, according to her. Despite a lot of Euroscepticism in the EU countries and her native Chechia, in particular, Ms. Charanzova is sure that the European Union is the best project on the continent, which should become only stronger and remain united. “The reason why we created it is that we didn’t want to have a war here. And we succeeded and we also managed to create a huge single market,” she noted during the lecture.

During her visit to Ukraine Ms. Charanzova also participated in a public discussion on benefits of Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement together with deputy Business Ombudsman Tetyana Korotka and Chief executive officer of Ukrainian Center for European Policy Liubov Akulenko, which was held at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.

The visit of Ms. Charanzova was held within the frame of #UkraineReforms, joint project of Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies, Kyiv School of Economics, Reanimation Package of Reforms and Stronger Together, which was launched in 2014 to support and promote reforms in Ukraine.
