KSE faculty will participate in the CMSSE Summer School

KSE faculty Oleksandr Shepotylo, Hanna Vakhitova and Volodymyr Vakhitov will participate in prestigious CMSSE Summer School of the Higher School of Economics, to be held on July 3-16, 2013, in St. Petersburg and dedicated to Spatial Economics And Imperfect Markets: Empirical Aspects.

Within the framework of the School Oleksandr Shepotylo will give a series of lectures on the effect of trade reforms on productivity of firms and industries; on ways to conduct policy analysis with the gravity models; and on the new branch in analysis of inter-regional links – spatial econometrics.

Volodymyr Vakhitov will discuss new advances in theoretical and methodological issues of industrial concentration, methodology of measuring spatial connections; as well as empirical studies based on Ukrainian firm-level data.

Hanna Vakhitova will present three lectures on migration issues based on extensive studies conducted in Ukraine and Moldova, such distribution remittances, profiles of migrants, income and investment effects, as well as effects of migration for international trade and movements of labor.

This year CMSSE Summer School will gather globally famous economists, such as Frédéric Robert-Nicoud, Florian Mayneris, Kristian Behrens, Sergey Afontsev, Natalia Volchkova, Irina Denisova, and Grigory Kosenok, and we are proud that KSE professors are among them.
