Pavlo Sheremeta to Become New President of The Kyiv School of Economics (KSE)

Pavlo Sheremeta, a widely respected educator and management expert, has been chosen by the KSE Board of Directors as the next President of KSE. The appointment takes effect November 1, 2012.

Pavlo Sheremeta was appointed by the KSE Board of Directors, following the recommendation by its Search Committee under the leadership of the Board Chair, Regina Yan (Eurasia Foundation and Peterson Institute for International Economics). Other members of the Search Committee are Torbjorn Becker (Stockholm School of Economics), Paul Gregory (University of Houston), Irina Paliashvili (RULG-Ukrainian Legal Group), and Jorge Zukoski (American Chamber of Commerce).

Mr. Sheremeta is the Vice Chair of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Ukraine. He teaches Strategy and Leadership for the top business schools in many countries of Eastern Europe and Asia and is an advisor to the mayor of Lviv. He has co-hosted a prime time TV program on business and economy and is a columnist for Forbes Ukraine, in addition to being a frequent moderator, commentator and speaker in various conferences.

Mr. Sheremeta was President and Institute Senior Fellow of the Malaysia Blue Ocean Strategy Institute (2008-2011). He was the Founding Dean of Kyiv Mohyla Business School in 1999-2008. Prior to that, Mr. Sheremeta was the MBA program director of the International Management Institute (MIM-Kyiv) and the Project Manager at the Open Society Institute in Budapest. In 2006-2010 Mr. Sheremeta served as the vice president of the Central and East European Management Development Association (CEEMAN), an organization with 200 institutional members from 50 countries and now serves as its Honorary Board member. In 2006 Mr. Sheremeta was ranked among the Top 15 Best Managers in Ukraine by the Companion magazine.

Mr. Sheremeta has unique experience within the Ukrainian academic and business community. We welcome him as our voice as he spreads the story of KSE throughout Ukraine and the surrounding countries.”

Mr. Pavlo Sheremeta, said: “KSE is an intellectual and educational jewel in Eastern Europe, it is one of the few world-class institutions in the region. Dr. Tom Coupé, who will step down from the President position to focus on teaching and research, welcomes Mr. Sheremeta in advancing the education and research missions of KSE together with the distinguished KSE faculty and professional staff.

Mr. Sheremeta received his MBA from Emory University (Atlanta, USA) and an undegraduate degree in economics from Lviv State University. He completed Executive Development Programs at Harvard Business School, Insead Blue Ocean Strategy Institute, China Europe International Business School, John F. Welch Leadership Development Center at GE. He is currently pursuing a PhD at the IEDC-Bled School of Management (Slovenia).
