On September 15, KSE Institute and the Taipei Representative Office in Poland signed an agreement to support a joint project between KSE Institute and the Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research (CIER).

CIER has extensive research experience in economic and industrial development, SMEs and technology. These areas are also relevant to KSE Institute’s research on Ukraine’s economy and its recovery.

Over the coming months, KSE Institute and CIER will prepare a joint study and run a training program. The teams will analyze Ukraine’s economic situation, the impact of the war on key sectors, Ukraine’s recovery strategy, international support programs and ways to finance reconstruction. They will also examine prospects for the energy, manufacturing and technology sectors, as well as Taiwan’s experience in industrial development, SME support, technology development, digital governance and reducing risks in supply chains.

“We are glad to start this work with CIER and value the Institute’s experience. Many of the questions we work on – investment, industrial development, SMEs and supply chains – are not unique to Ukraine. At the same time, Ukraine now has its own experience, particularly in how the economy, businesses and the defense tech sector have adapted since the full-scale invasion,” said Nataliia Shapoval, President of KSE Institute.

The project will run through March 2027. KSE Institute and CIER will also establish a permanent coordination platform for further research cooperation. Financial support for KSE Institute’s work under the project is provided by the Taipei Representative Office in Poland.
