- KSE and Elliott School of International Affairs launched a joint program for Ukrainian scholars
The Kyiv School of Economics joins the program to support Ukrainian scholars, which is conducted jointly with the Elliott School of International Affairs of the George Washington University, one of the world’s leading schools of international affairs.
During the meeting, Tymofii Brik, rector of the Kyiv School of Economics, and Alisa Ayres, dean of the George Washington Elliott School of International Affairs, discussed the prospects for the development of education and future cooperation between the institutions.
The program of the IERES Institute specializes in the study of contemporary Ukrainian politics, society and culture. It was created in the mid-1990s together with the Petrach Endowment for Ukrainian Studies.
In response to Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the program received substantial support through the creation of the Elliott School Funds for Displaced Scholars. In total, 20 Ukrainian scientists will participate in the future IERES program in Ukraine, 12 of whom will work on the basis of KSE in the status of Non-Resident Fellow.
“Supporting Ukrainian scholars in times of war is an important investment in the future of Ukraine. This year, we are happy to provide the opportunities of our School for the study of Ukraine to scientists who have suffered from military actions. I want to thank the Elliott School of International Affairs for this opportunity, we are extremely happy about this step,” said Tymofii Brik, rector of the KSE University.
“IERES and the Elliott School of International Affairs will be supporting Ukrainian scholars for many years to come thanks to the generous gift from the Segal family to establish the Fund for Scholars Affected by the War in Ukraine,” the IERES Institute notes.
