Dr. Newton Howard, a renowned neuroscientist and innovator, has joined the KSE Board of Directors.

The Kyiv School of Economics (KSE) is pleased to announce that Dr. Newton Howard has been appointed to its Board of Directors. He brings a wealth of experience in neuroscience, artificial intelligence, and strategic innovation that will greatly benefit KSE’s leadership team.

Dr. Howard currently serves as a professor at the Rochester Institute of Technology (USA) and has previously taught at the University of Oxford, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Georgetown University. At Oxford, he founded and directed the Computational Neurosciences Lab, and at MIT he established the Synthetic Intelligence Lab. He is also the founder of the Howard Brain Sciences Foundation and the Center for Advanced Defense Studies (C4ADS), a Washington, D.C.–based think tank known for data-driven analysis of global conflicts and security threats.

Throughout his career, Dr. Howard has successfully bridged academia, industry, and national security. He is the founder of ni2o, Inc., a startup developing AI-driven brain–computer interfaces to treat neurological disorders. He has also served as an advisor to U.S. government organizations on national security matters. Known for translating cutting-edge research into real-world innovation, Dr. Howard played roles in developing everyday technologies such as wireless internet hotspots, Google Earth, and Google Translate. His work has contributed to over 30 U.S. patents and more than 90 scientific publications.

Dr. Howard is deeply committed to advancing human health and global security through science. As the founder of the Howard Brain Sciences Foundation, he has championed innovative research to improve the lives of those suffering from neurological disorders. His dedication to solving critical challenges with evidence-based solutions aligns with KSE’s mission to uphold academic excellence, economic resilience, and policy innovation for Ukraine’s future.
