Kyiv School of Economics had the privilege of hosting Lola Woetzel — a professor at NYU Shanghai University and a renowned business consulting expert. Professor Woetzel delivered a lecture-discussion, sharing insights from her over thirty years of experience at McKinsey & Co., and presented the key concepts from her new book, co-authored with Jeffrey Towson, “One Hour Moats and Marathons: 5 Rules for Winning Big in Digital Business – in a Book You Can Read in an Hour.”
The professor highlighted five key rules for achieving success in digital business: speed, stability, intangible assets, structural advantages, and leadership. Each of these principles is explored in greater detail in her book. She particularly emphasized the importance of maintaining competitiveness in the digital landscape, stressing the need for adaptability in the face of constant change.
“Competitive strength requires not only high operational performance but also the ability to build economic barriers and structural advantages,” Lola Woetzel noted.
During the discussion, Lola Woetzel shared the advantages of the digital space for entrepreneurship, citing examples from companies like WhatsApp, ByteDance, and Foodpanda. “Everyone fails at first.
