Baltic reformers recommend to conduct privatization and introduce e-governance

December 8, 2015

As a part of #UkraineReforms project, the Kyiv School of Economics continues publishing video podcasts with successful reformers from neighboring countries. On our new videos former Prime Minister of Latvia Einars Repse and former Prime Minister of Estonia Juhan Parts share experience of reforms in their countries and lessons for Ukraine.

Ukraine desperately needs macroeconomic stabilization and, according to Einars Repse, state enterprises have to be privatized, so that they can compete with private ones on free markets, while hryvnia rate should be stabilized, for example, by introducing currency board as Latvia did in 1994. Experience of Estonia shows that the system of e-governance also can be an effective solution for Ukraine now, for the work of the tax system, in particular, according to Juhan Parts.

#UkraineReforms was launched in November 2014 by Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies in partnership with Kyiv School of Economics, Reanimation Package of Reforms and Stronger Together.
