KSE Institute Presented Key Conditions for Ukraine’s Economic Growth at UBBC Conference in London
28 September 2026
On September 23, KSE Institute took part in the Ukraine Britain Business Council conference “Future Ukraine: Powerhouse of Europe” in London. The event brought together representatives of business, investors, governments, financial institutions, and the technology and education sectors from Ukraine and the UK to discuss Ukraine’s recovery, modernisation, and long-term economic development.
KSE Institute was represented by Senior Economic Advisor Alina Slyusarchuk. She gave a presentation on the current state and outlook of the Ukrainian economy and joined a discussion on the role of education and human capital in Ukraine’s future recovery.
In Q2, real GDP grew by 0.6% year-on-year after declining by 0.6% in Q1. In July, machinery and equipment output increased by 62.1% year-on-year, while traditional export sectors remained under pressure from security and logistics constraints.
As of September, more than €20 billion in financing programmes are available for Ukraine through international financial institutions (IFIs) and development finance institutions (DFIs). Scaling up investment will require further de-risking through guarantees, insurance, financing via Ukrainian banks, and combinations of different financial instruments.
Human capital and the role of education in recovery were another focus of the discussion. The number of KSE students increased from 362 in 2021 to 1,687 in 2025, while 16 new academic programmes were launched over the same period.
Conference participants also discussed how to mobilise private capital during the war, prepare businesses for larger-scale investment, and develop the skills needed for recovery.
