In summer 2026, KSE Campus Obolon hosted over 100 training sessions with more than 1,000 participants. Located at the golf club on Obolon Embankment, the campus continues to grow as a hub for sports and community life.
In developing the Obolon space, KSE aims to revitalize the area and ensure it remains open to students, the veteran community, and local residents alike. Sports initiatives serve as a key tool in achieving this goal.
Golf forms the foundation of campus sports life. The KSE Veterans Office golf community includes over 150 members—veterans and active-duty personnel—who train throughout the season. Separate sessions are held for the spouses of military members and veterans. Students and children also participate in golf, while stretching classes are offered to the KSE community and Obolon residents.
The KSE Veterans Office golf team will represent KSE and Ukraine at international competitions in Slovenia. From October 7–11, six veterans will compete in the 1st Ukraine Pitch & Putt Open Championship 2026 at Golf Brdo. They will compete alongside military personnel, veterans, and university representatives from Slovenia, Spain, the UK, and Turkey. The team prepared for this start throughout the season with regular training at KSE Campus Obolon to refine their technique.
KSE already promotes the Art & Science concept—a space where contemporary art and science interact to spark new ideas. The Obolon sports initiative follows the same principle: physical activity, science, and education intersect in one space—Sport & Science. A meta-analysis of over 8,000 students (Frontiers in Psychology, 2025) shows that regular exercise reduces depression, anxiety, and stress. This supports the role of physical activity in maintaining the mental well-being of students, veterans, and community members.
Campus plans include the Obolon Cup, a national chess tournament gathering the country’s top players for the second time; a mental health event for children with Gen.Ukrainian; the golf season closing; and a therapeutic gardening program for youth and veterans featuring a new greenhouse. The campus also features a Memory Garden, which will host its own dedicated program.
At the world’s leading universities, sport is not an extracurricular add-on but a vital part of student retention and community building. Since 1878, the Oxford University Golf Club and Cambridge University Golf Club have held the annual Varsity Match—one of the world’s oldest student sports tournaments. KSE is building its Obolon sports program on the same principle: dedicated infrastructure and team traditions rather than seasonal activities.
“The campus sports program continues to expand, adding new sports and event formats for the community. We look to universities where sport is an integral part of the campus, not a seasonal addition. Major sporting events, veteran sports, and therapeutic gardening are the first steps in this plan,” — Tymofii Brik, Rector of KSE University.
KSE Campus Obolon is a KSE space on the Obolon Embankment in Kyiv. It hosts sporting, cultural, and educational events for KSE students, the veteran community, and Obolon residents. Stay tuned for announcements.
