Kyiv School of Economics is pleased to invite to the Public Lecture with Qimiao Fan, World Bank Country Director for Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova, on “Key challenges in Ukraine’s economy and priorities for reforms”.
It will be held on March 23 at 19.00 at Kyiv School of Economics.
About the speaker. Mr. Fan, a Chinese national, joined the World Bank in 1991 as a Young Professional. He worked then as an economist/senior economist on Russia and CIS countries. Mr. Fan took leave from the Bank in January 1998 to work in the private sector in various senior executive positions in China until September 2002. After returning to the Bank Mr. Fan became Program Leader for the Investment Climate Program in the World Bank Institute. He was Country Manager for Cambodia
Prior to joining the World Bank Mr. Fan worked as a researcher in development and transition economics at the London School of Economics and as a policy researcher at Jiangxi Institute of Finance and Economics in China.
Mr. Qimiao Fan holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom, and a BA in Economics from the Jiangxi Institute of Finance and Economics in China. He has published widely on topics related to international economics, investment climate and the problems of economies in transition.
Mr. Fan’s appointment as Country Director for Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova took effect on February 1, 2012. In this position, Mr. Fan oversees the Bank’s program in the three countries and leads the Bank’s country team with a focus on results, quality and efficiency.
Mr. Fan leads the policy dialogue with the government counterparts, civil society and other partners.
