Statement of Purpose


One of the most important parts of the application form is the statement of purpose on why you wish to study at this program and how a master’s degree in business and financial economics is related to your career goals and intellectual interests.


Format recommendations: 1-2 pages, 12-14 font, 1.5-2 spacing.

Language: English (translation of a statement by another person is prohibited)


In general, a good statement of purpose should include answers to the following questions:

  • How your personal background, interests, and experience will help you to study in the program?
  • How does the master’s program fit into your short-term and long-term career goals?
  • What knowledge and skills do I lack and how can I get them at the Kyiv School of Economics?
  • What attracts me to the Kyiv School of Economics?


Recommendation Letters


Recommendation letters should be provided by two individuals, such as university instructors or employers (that is, from people who have supervised you in either an academic, professional, or community service capacity, and who can comment on your intellectual ability, creativity, initiative, sensitivity to others, and leadership potential).

Recommendations should not be written by friends or family members. When feasible, at least one should be from a university professor familiar with your academic work.

Recommendation letters can be written Ukrainian or English. If the recommendation letters are written in any other language, translation in English should be provided and translation must be notarized. Letters of recommendation should include the name, title, address, e-mail and telephone number of the person providing the recommendation and should be signed.


Bachelor’s diploma and official transcript or transcript of your current grades if you have not graduated yet


If you have already completed your studies, please provide a diploma and an official transcript. If you expect to graduate in the summer of 2021, provide a score of grades or a copy of all pages of your record book, making sure that the information in it is legible. If the information is not legible, it is possible to make appendices to the copy of the record book, a printed version of the subjects and grades for them in word doc format.


Portrait photo


High-quality color portrait photo. The face should be ¾ the size of a photo.


Copy of passport and identification code


Other documents


Any supporting documents you also wish to submit, such as publications, conference theses, awards, test certificated (GRE, TOEFL, IELTS).

The admission schedule will be announced after the approval of the rules of admission in 2021.


Applicants have the opportunity to enroll in both KSE master’s programs simultaneously (one-year Master’s program in Business and Finance Economics and a two-year Master’s program in Economic Analysis). To do this, the applicant must, within the deadlines for submission of documents, submit one complete package of required documents, and submit a separate statement of purpose for each of the programs.
